Leadership    Integrity    Community

Vision

As a dedicated resident of the Forest Hills School District, I am committed to serving our students, staff, and families with unwavering leadership, integrity, and a strong sense of community.  If elected to the Forest Hills Public Schools Board of Education, I will prioritize the following:

1- Leadership: I believe effective leadership involves listening to all residents, collaborating with fellow board members, and making informed decisions that benefit our students. I will work tirelessly to ensure our schools continue to excel academically, emotionally, and socially.

2- Integrity: Transparency and honesty are essential. I pledge to uphold the highest ethical standards, ensuring that our district's policies and practices align with our shared vision and values. Trust is the foundation of a successful school system, and I will earn and maintain that trust through open communication and accountability.

3- Community: Our schools are at the heart of the community. I will actively engage with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and local residents. Together, we will continue the tradition of an inclusive learning environment where students thrive, regardless of their background and ability.

Join me in shaping the future of Forest Hills Public Schools. Let's build upon our district's foundation, while focusing on our strengths, addressing challenges, and foster an environment where every student can reach their full potential.

Our Story

I was raised in Ionia, Michigan by two parents who dedicated their careers to a public-school educational system. My father served as an administrator with the Intermediate School District before serving on the public school’s board of education and my mother worked within the food services department. They instilled in me a strong sense of purpose and the importance of giving back to the community.

Prior to graduating high school, I enlisted in the Marine Corps to serve my country. During my time in the Marines, I served as part of an Anti- Terrorism Task Force in London England during the September 11th terrorist attacks and as an Infantry Squad Leader during operations in Iraq. While serving my country I met my wife Sarah and convinced her that West Michigan (Ada) was the best place to raise a family.

I graduated from Grand Valley State University and currently am a community leader and commercial banker who helps West Michigan companies grow. I actively participate in several non-profit organizations, including the West Michigan Veterans Coalition and Armed Forces Thanksgiving. I have also served on various organizational boards, such as the Grand Valley’s Alumni Association, Mid-Michigan Banking Group, and Ionia Jaycees. I was honored as a 40 under 40 business leader recipient by the Grand Rapids Business Journal in 2018.

Keast children (Ren, Evelyn, Ruby, Dorothy (who we lost far too early), and Calvin) all attend different schools within the Forest Hills Central School System. Forest Hills Central High School, Central Woodlands, Goodwillie Environmental School, and (Future) Pine Ridge Elementary. Throughout our time at Forest Hills Community our family has volunteered for numerous classrooms, youth sports programs, and various school related activities.

Leadership

I have lead Marines in anti-terrorism operations aboard and in combat operations during the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Today, I lead a team of commercial bankers, dedicated to helping business leaders prosper within our community.

I currently attend Graduate School at The Graduate School of Banking at The University of Wisconsin- Madison where I have a leadership role as the elected Class President representing 144 students of the Class of 2025.

Integrity

Partisan Politics do not belong within any public education system. I have witnessed how toxic a board of education system can become when board members attempt to manage the daily operations of the district and propagate personal agendas.

I promise to lead with an open perspective and not let outside interest groups or individualized agendas determine the direction of our schools.

Community

Forest Hills Public Schools should be proactive by providing our students and encouraging our educators to give back through a strong sense of community involvement.

I personally have given back by volunteering at numerous community activities in Ada and Cascade, as well as coaching AYSO Soccer for over 6 years.
